( 2.8 / 69 )Its been a while! Now I finally have some free time, I can get back to work on The Bug Genie, and actually start work on those updates I promised a while ago.
The current plan is to carry on with a 2.1 release, which will hopefully come out before 3.0 does. The feature list will remain the same as mentioned earlier, though I will add a few things as suggested in the forums. However there will be no switch to HTML since we moved to wiki code in 3.0, and I would not like to backport the text parsing code from 3.0. Therefore issues will remain in bbcode for now.
Additionally there has been no 2.0.x releases in a while, mainly as originally there wasn't anything to include, and then I became very busy. While I don't plan a new 2.0.x release for a while, there will probably be one alongside 2.1.0, so that people who just want the bugfixes but not the new features (and thus database changes) can carry on.
To wrap it all off, sorry that I haven't been able to keep you up to date with the status of the 2.0 branch, nor reply to any bug reports, you should see some progress very soon now!

( 2.8 / 64 )Yes, it is!
We just released the promised tech preview release of version 3, promised for this week.
Please keep in mind that this is a preview release with a lot of missing and non-functioning pieces, but it should be good enough to get a glimpse of what we're doing with version 3.
What does it contain?
Reporting issues
Everything you need to report issues and manage them
Project management
A working project dashboard with what we've implemented of features so far. Some functionality (like planning, complete scrum backlog mgmt and statistics) is missing, but much is already there
Wiki
The wiki is available, feel free to play around with it
Much is still missing, though, such as: svn integration, saved searches, custom fields, rss feeds, http auth, ldap auth, openid integration, and much more - so be kind :)
Please don't file bugs directly against this release, but do comment on it and discuss it in the "$version+1" forum - including requests for features.
Download the tech preview release from here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/bugs-bug-genie/files/

( 3.2 / 45 )Whoah! What a crazy last few weeks it has been!
Preparing for the preview release which should happen within the following week, the last three weeks we've added:
* Wiki
Project wiki and global wiki. The wiki is also aware of the current project context that we've been working a lot with. The wiki also has project-aware (sub-/)categories, revision history and a lot more.
* Search
Quicksearch and main search has been added. You can quicksearch from the quicksearch area, which will jump straight to an issue if there is only one result. You can also write strings such as "Issue #3, issue #4, ticket #12 and story TBG-12" and it will list those four issues in the search results.
Search is also project context aware, which means that if you're in a project context, quick search will only happen for that project. In the main context, quick search will happen for all projects.
* Global wiki formatting
After introducing wiki formatting from the wiki module, we've switched to wiki formatting globally. This means you will only have to know one syntax, and you can also use this to markup commit messages, comments, issue descriptions and more!
We're very excited about the upcoming preview release - stay tuned!

( 3.3 / 53 )Version 3 has seen a lot of development recently, we're gearing up for the planned preview release late november.
The last week saw the inclusion of the wiki module (replacing the news & article module), and while it's not finished yet, it's already come a long way!
